45Making good things again

Do the things that made you feel good, the ones you found gave you a wonderful feeling when you wrote about them.

Optimistic writing focuses on small things, but what gives us that good feeling may be something bigger than a sensation we notice and come back to. Maybe we can make certain things happen: giving a small gift to someone close, helping someone who needs help, or giving ourselves something that makes us feel better, like buying something we love to eat or drink.

By writing about those moments and going on doing them, the writing can lead us to find what we value and need more, and to do it. And from that may come acts of kindness toward others, or toward ourselves.
