Expressive writing

What it is

Expressive writing is a method proved by psychology — for traumas, and for the things that can keep you awake all night. You write hard and continuously about what weighs on you, and give the hard things words.

How to try it

Write for 15–20 minutes on 3–4 consecutive days. Write about your deepest thoughts and feelings on something that weighs on you — a difficulty, a change, something you keep circling back to. Don't worry about spelling or style; the writing is for you.

In Weave

Choose expressive writing on the write page. Nothing here asks you to be positive — this practice is the place for the heavy things. The gentle read behaves differently too: it offers a reflection, and helps you close a session rather than score it.
