Where the time disappeared

There are beautiful moments in life whose mark is that we stop feeling time at all. Not rest and not entertainment, but absorption. Ask yourself when that last happened to you, and then write about that time.

There are beautiful moments in life whose mark is that we stop feeling time. They may be moments of absorption in some work - not easy work, but work you went so far into that you forgot the time completely and came out three hours later to find the day had moved. It is not rest and not entertainment but absorption. Ask yourself when it last happened to you, and then write about that time.

You can describe what happened and what you were doing and how you were taken up so completely that you stopped noticing time. Perhaps it was many steps one after another to finish some task. You might add your own appreciation of what you achieved, and you might talk about how hard or how easy the work was. Researchers found that several sessions of this kind of writing led to improvement on every psychological measure they took.

Today's prompt

Write about a moment in which you were so deeply absorbed in some work, or in good feeling, that you stopped feeling time or thinking about where you were. What were you doing? How did it feel from the inside, and what else do you notice about that moment?
